New Polls Show a McCain Surge

Filed under: Polling — Austin Cassidy @ 5:19 am

A new CNN poll out today shows Senator McCain rocketing to a 13% lead over Mike Huckabee nationally.

Additionally, Rasmussen and Fox News polls in South Carolina are now showing a lead for McCain with Huckabee in second place.   And a SurveyUSA poll released today also shows that McCain has jumped past both Giuliani and Huckabee in Florida… and has actually taken a stunning 8% lead in the January 29th state.

If we win in Michigan, there will be no stopping this momentum!

McCain Takes South Carolina Lead

Filed under: Polling, Campaign News — Austin Cassidy @ 5:20 am

Following John McCain’s surprise victory in New Hampshire, the first post-primary polls have started to come out in South Carolina. The numbers have got to be concerning to supporters of Mike Huckabee and Fred Thompson. Both of those candidates have essentially staked their campaigns on a win in the first Southern primary to boost them into contention by Super Tuesday.

A Rasmussen poll taken two days before New Hampshire showed Mike Huckabee in the lead in South Carolina: 28 Huckabee, 21 McCain, 15 Romney, 11 Thompson, 10 Giuliani.

Rasmussen’s latest poll, taken the day after New Hampshire voted, shows a significant shift: 27 McCain, 24 Huckabee, 16 Romney, 12 Thompson, and 6 for Giuliani.

A Fox News poll taken at the same time showed McCain with 25% over Huckabee with 18% and Romney with 17%.

The Real Clear Politics polling average (the poll of polls) still shows Huckabee ahead in South Carolina, but these latest numbers suggest a surge in support for Senator McCain.

Tied for Third in Iowa, Winning NH…

Filed under: Election Results, Polling, Campaign News — Austin Cassidy @ 11:38 pm

Yesterday saw a surprisingly strong showing for Senator McCain in the Iowa Caucuses.   Despite spending virtually no money or time in the state, a late surge pushed McCain to 13% and created a virtual tie for third place with Fred Thompson.

Meanwhile, a new poll out in New Hampshire shows Senator McCain moving into a small lead in the state that will hold the nation’s first primary on Tuesday.

McCain Leads in New Hampshire

Filed under: Polling — Austin Cassidy @ 6:32 pm

For the first time in a very long time, a poll puts Senator McCain squarely in the lead in New Hampshire…

With the New Hampshire Presidential Primaries just one week away, John McCain (31 percent) has overtaken Mitt Romney (25 percent) in the battle for the Republican nomination, according to a 7NEWS/Suffolk University poll released today.  In last month’s 7NEWS/Suffolk University poll, McCain trailed Romney by 12 percent.

This is the first poll that has John McCain in first place in New Hampshire since 7News/Suffolk University began polling this race in March 2007.

Surprising Strength in Iowa…

Filed under: Polling, Campaign News — Austin Cassidy @ 10:45 pm

Everyone has expected Iowa to be battle between Romney and Huckabee… and that John McCain would be a factor starting in New Hampshire.  New polls, however, are showing that we have a real chance of a top-four finish in Iowa… and perhaps even a second or third place showing!

The numbers are showing a big surge in support for McCain among Iowa caucus-goers leading up to next week’s vote…

The poll indicates that Huckabee’s support among male voters in Iowa may be slipping. Last week, Huckabee had 31 percent support among Republican men; this week, he and Rudy Giuliani are tied at 20 percent. John McCain and Mitt Romney both have the support of 17 percent of the GOP’s likely male caucus goers.

The most recent ARG polls have a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percentage points. The polls were conducted over the phone, and had a sample size of 600 likely Democratic and 600 Republican caucus-goers living in Iowa, respectively.

New Polls Show Progress…

Filed under: Polling — Austin Cassidy @ 5:21 am

A pair of polls released today show Senator McCain starting to tick back up in the polls, both in Iowa and Florida.

In Iowa, McCain is running fourth with 9% in a virtual tie with Fred Thompson who is at 10%.   A third place showing in Iowa would be a huge coup as most observers were expecting him to finish at least 4th or 5th.

In Florida, Senator McCain has bounced up to third place with 15% of the vote.  He’s behind Huckabee at 21% and Giuliani is at 25%…. however Rudy’s support has been dropping fast and furious!

New Poll: We’re Ahead in Michigan!

Filed under: Polling — Austin Cassidy @ 4:19 am

New polling numbers from Michigan show that we now have a lead in this important early primary state.  Keep in mind that Mitt Romney’s father was governor of Michigan for years and he was expected to win there easily.

John McCain - 21%

Mitt Romney - 18%

Mike Huckabee - 16%

The momentum continues to build.  If Huckabee beats Romney in Iowa that will kill Romney’s campaign.   Opening up New Hampshire for a McCain surprise.  That momentum will carry us to a win in Michigan which will just snowball with South Carolina, Florida, and eventually Super Tuesday!

If you’re not excited… you’re not paying attention!  :)
